22,256 deer checked in on first day of hunting season in Ohio


Hunters checked 22,256 white-tailed deer on Monday, the opening day of Ohio’s deer-gun hunting season, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Ohio’s deer-firearm season stays open through Sunday, Dec. 6. New this year, an extra two days (Monday, Dec. 28, and Tuesday, Dec. 29) have been added to expand the open door for individuals to chase with guns.
